Analytical Drawing

Constructing a product lets us enjoy the little details of the object more as compared to when we just sketch an object. It helps us understand how the product might have been constructed or made. This helps a lot in designing objects. I did similar sketches to design builtforms or spaces. It gives us a wholesome notion of every aspect of the object.

If we understand the concept of analytical drawing and practice it well, we will never go wrong in designing objects.

As Kuntal Da says, " Pencil is the only hotlink between your brain and hand." The more we practice with pencil, we will be crisp clear when we design something and digital tools will be easier to work with. Its about creating that muscle memory.

As I used to work intensively with my hands in my architecture school, analytical drawing has been a part and parcel of my life, but working in the industry sometimes leaves one with less scope to practice, I think making few small objects let me brush all these.

Here I was studying the construction of the object as well as try to understand the texture and grains of the wooden surface as well as the glass surface through which we can see the whole black pepper.  There are three different surfaces of the black pepper crusher, wanted to see if I can distinctively show the different materials through sketching it in detail.
